Ukrainian units operating in the Bakhmut ejected Russian troops from a fortified complex, proceeded to take it over, and then repelled multiple Russian counter-attacks.

The fortifications, sited near the villages of Berkhivka and Yahidne, had been under Russian control for some time.

After digging in, Ukraine operators repelled multiple attempts to retake the stronghold.

Ukrainian troops are moving slowly and methodically forward, focusing on small tactical gains while pounding the Russian rear guard with artillery so no reinforcements can be sent to the front lines. The idea is to slowly grind down what’s left of the Russian army before launching the main thrust of the counter-offensive.
