Russia has lost as many troops in Ukraine over the last three months as it did over nine years in Afghanistan, it has emerged today.

The scale of the disaster in Ukraine is almost unimaginable, with some analysts estimating human losses to surpass 25,000 young men, while nothing has been gained.

What’s left of the Russian army is now resorting to long-range artillery bombardments of some tiny villages in the east of the country, a tactic that, while avoiding contact with the deadly Ukrainian forces, achieves nothing but wanton destruction without any strategic value.

The Ukrainian military is paying back in kind, however, as it’s using 155 howitzers to pummel Russian positions.
