Residents in Spain are being warned of record-breaking temperatures for the month of April, with thermometers likely to reach 40C.

Local weather forecasting agencies are saying that temperatures of 40C or beyond are likely between Wednesday and Friday. Spain wouldn’t normally see these conditions until July.

If it comes to pass, it would mark the hottest April weather since records began.
