Ukraine has received the first squadron of British main battle tanks Challenger 2, plus many other armored units, meaning that a decisive counter-offensive is imminent.

Ukraine is assembling a massive mechanized army with which to launch a counter-offensive in the coming weeks.

Apart from the Challenger 2 tanks, Ukraine has received Stryker and Marder IFVs from the United States and Germany respectively, and Cougars (mine-resistant, infantry mobility vehicles) from the United States also. Leopard 2 main battle tanks are already in the country, and several Archer self-propelled artillery units are also due in shortly.

Experts believe that Ukraine will first strike the Kerch Bridge in Crimea to sever the connection between the Peninsula and the Russian mainland, preventing Russia from sending in reinforcements. Next, Sevastopol (home port to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet) is also expected to be hit, before the ground offensive proper begins, with the goal of driving a wedge between Crimea and northern regions. Once this objective is accomplished, the armored fist will likely swing northwards, punch a hole through weak Russian defensive lines, and slowly push the remnants of the Russian army all the way back to their starting positions of February 2022.

None of this would have been possible without the support of US President Joe Biden, who has approved billions in military aid for Ukraine. Mr. Biden’s attitude contrasts starkly with that of the disgraced former President Donald Trump, who actually attempted to blackmail the now wartime President Volodymyr Zelensky to find ‘dirt’ on then Presidential candidate Joe Biden. No such ‘dirt’ actually existed, of course, unlike in the case of the Trump crime family. Mr. Trump himself is now likely to be indicted over hush money he paid to former adult film star Stormy Daniels, with whom he allegedly had an affair as his wife looked after their recently born son Barron.
